Who We Are

Not everyone has had the opportunities they need to thrive, and sometimes it’s because of generational cycles of poverty and struggle. That’s our “why”: to equip and empower multiple generations of the Barrow County community through programs and services to bring about holistic change.

Our Vision

We will be a bridge to a broken community by ending the cycles of systemic poverty by showing those in need a new path of life that affirms their intrinsic value and places them in a position to become a productive member of the community.

Our History

In the spring of 2016, a group of 15 people began meeting to identify challenges facing the Barrow County community. That fall, they gathered around a table and narrowed down on the underserved needs that exist: homelessness, hunger, generational poverty, illiteracy, substance abuse and fractured family units (often requiring foster care). The group recognized that all of these issues, in some form, compound and become cyclical.

A focus was placed on two of these issues: hunger and generational poverty.

Through these 15 people, plans were made, an organization name was created, a mission and vision were cast. Five of these 15 continued as board members, and in July 2017, New Path became a registered 501©(3) organization.

Our Method

Meeting tangible needs and providing encouraging messages.

Our Goal

Targeting the root of generational poverty to impact this generation and the next.

Wondering where we got our name? “New Path” stands for a brand new direction in life, the start of a journey on the right track, no matter where you came from. And “1010” comes from the Bible verse John 10:10, which says, “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”

Our name speaks into everything we do and describes the kind of life we want for everyone in our community: one of fullness and empowerment.
